Electrolytes are responsible for regulating the body's water balance. If this is out of balance, it leads to energy deficiency. If the deficiency persists for a prolonged period of time, a loss of performance and other more serious consequences can occur. The highly concentrated ingredients in Stiefel Electrolyte compensate for the resulting deficiency and contribute to faster recovery. It contains sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Electrolytes such as sodium and potassium are responsible for the stable pressure in the body's cells. In addition, Stiefel Electrolyte with magnesium supports muscle metabolism.
Every performance horse should be provided with sufficient electrolytes during the competition season as well as during intensive training. Likewise, older horses in high temperatures, as there are no electrolyte stores in the body. If electrolyte consumption is high, these should be supplied in adequate amounts through feed.
Tip! Sufficient fibre feed should be provided for high performance demands and high temperatures, as the crude fibre in the gut binds water and thus acts as a silent reservoir.
Feeding notes:
To compensate for electrolyte loss due to excessive sweating:
Large horses (600 kg body weight) 50-100 g per day
Small horses 30-60 g per day
Recommended feeding period: 1-3 days
Make water freely available.
It is recommended to seek professional advice before feeding.
To stabilise the water and electrolyte balance during or after feeding if there is a risk of indigestion (diarrhoea):
Foal 50-100 g per day
Recommended feeding period 1-7 days;
1 to 3 days as sole feed
It is recommended to seek veterinary advice before feeding.
